Wurstfest is a huge beer and sausage festival in early November each year followed by Festagge, a series of Christmas activities, that run through December including Wassailfest and the downtown Tree Lighting . Schlitterbahn now has the "Hill Country Christmas" with ice skating and entertainment. The Harley Davidson Hog Rally in 2008 was the largest in the nation and is held in April each year. Several Texas Wineries can be found throughout the area.

There are six or seven runs per year at Landa Park and in Gruene. Cyclists also enjoy the Tour de Gruene which featured Lance Armstrong in 2008!  The Adopotion Marathon will be held in Gruene each October and many more events are created each year.
